Swimming

Talia is in this Swim program through Paul Saddler. I am just amazed with how far she has come! They really don't mess around. They push her. And when I say she needs to be pushed... I don't mean she's bored and so advanced etc. I mean she loves to learn and is smart but she's nervous so she needs a push. And man she has done amazing. In this program you can move up levels within the season and work at your pace. You just stay in that class but work on what you need to accomplish and not what the class is doing. It's all individual. So great.

They don't use life jackets they have these floaties around her arms and a float band around her waist. Eventually they work to not having that on. They also learnt to "doggy" paddle and stay a float. She is well above her level in that. She's up to 25-30 seconds on her own NO floaties. Her second last lesson she actually swam front crawl with just one arm float ring, and on her back she just held one floaty above her belly. I was so impressed. 

Her last class this winter session was a disaster. Funny because on the way to the class she was telling me she wont even be scared of the cold water at echo anymore. So we get to the class and the water heater I guess shut off the night before and the water was a tad chilly. Not lake chilly but cold. Anyways she could barely swim she was so cold, and of course it built up in her head and escalated. She lasted half the class. I felt so bad because it was such a fun class. They played games, snag songs, and Santa came. I did make her stay and watch her class though and take a picture with her teacher.

Regardless of our last day, we just love this program. She's gained confidence and loves going. I can't wait to start Jace when he turns 3.

 

So Talia is oddly scared of men. New men, men she doesn't know. I talked to her and told her before swimming lessons started she may have a male teacher. Anyways it took a few classes and she really warmed up to him. He was so great. Pushed her and was understanding with how she learned. He's also Australian so great accent. I'll have to prep her for next session... it'll probably be another male teacher.

Breakfast with Santa

We had breakfast with Santa! It was held at Salisbury Green house. Just on the southwest side of Sherwood Park. So really only 20 minutes away. I love all the activities you can go to in Edmonton and surrounding areas.

 

Anyways they have a great little breakfast, face painting (which we didn't do because we have a Pizzey Christmas Party this afternoon), a wicked Clown who was SO talented at making balloons, and Santa.

 

It was just over an hour, pretty relaxed and just a fun thing to do with the kids. I think as long as we're here we'll go to it every year! We also let them pick out a decoration for this year. Kind of fun for the kids!

Talia loves dancing so she picked out ballet shoes (even though she doesn't own any yet) and Jace loves anything tractors/ truck.

Santa photo

Went to do our annual Santa visit at the mall. I love these photos. Some lady in front of me was super stressed her kids would cry and was telling me you spend all this money you just really hope they smile and don't cry. I guess I don't view it like that. I think it's hilarious when they cry! I just want them to react like that normally would at that point in their life. Anyways this one turned out perfect. Showed their true personalities...

 

 

Talia- Sweet, excited but still a bit shy, Penny anxiety about not being held by mom or dad, and Jace excited to see Santa but being a goof.

 

Just a side note. Not impressed with the quality of the photo you pay big bucks for. It's blurry and the lighting is weird. Wish I had brought my camera... guess it's about the experience right?

 

 

While we were in Vegas my parents took our kids to Jordan and Breanne's work party at Galaxy land. They also go to see Santa. Penny surprisingly was ok.  Breanne's kids are usually 99% of the time more brave than mine BUT when it comes to Santa my kids are just a little more brave. Marli was not super impressed and I think Avery warmed up to the idea. Shocking!

Less than 2 weeks from Christmas! I'm trying to learn this song on the piano to play and sing for Christmas Eve. It's well above my abilities so hopefully I can pull off some of it!

 



"Spicy spicy"

So Talia was sick and I was cuddling her in my bed. Jace came to our bedside and he was not impressed. He was rubbing his tongue and was mmmmaaaad! So I asked if he had a hair or had bit his tongue. He wouldn't speak but seemed every time I asked him more questions the more mad he got.

 

While I was TRYING to have this conversation with my toddler, I realized he had his toothbrush in his hand. 1.) He doesn't brush his teeth, we do because he makes a mess, and 2.) they aren't allowed to go in the bathroom and try to play with toothpaste and tooth brushes without us because they make a mess. So he start rubbing his tooth brush all over my bed sheets in a rage. His toothbrush was CLEARLY wet. So I was getting annoyed then he started saying "spicy, spicy." I thought he must have had our toothpaste. He wasn't really talking well just using minimal words. Sometimes like Jace when he's in a rage...

 

So I was told him he had to go to this room if he couldn't calm down. I started to walk him there but we had to drop his toothbrush off in the bathroom. That's when I noticed what was going on...

 

There was hand soap all over the counter. He had used hand soap for tooth paste. I burst out laughing and asked him if he used soap for toothpaste. "yes."

 

So I thought that was good enough punishment. Still laugh when i think about it.

Our nephews- The triplets!!!

So on December 5th, 2013 Leslie had her babies! She had a scheduled C-section, and everything went as great as it could have. A tougher recovery than her previous delivery but the babies have done so well.

 

They are currently in NICU trying to fatten up and maintain their sugars.

 

Anyways I was able to come and take some photos. Hopefully I can go back and take some more sometime and I still need to go through them and edited just slightly. But here are the precious babies.

Richard looked so happy. I really want to get some pictures of Leslie sometime with her three babies. She was in to much pain and couldn't walk so it took a little while before she was able to meet them.

They are so sweet and so little. Can't wait to see them grow up together and all the fun and trouble they will cause!

 

Also I think they have great parents. I love Leslie she's amazing and such a good mommy. I look up to her for her patience and fun attitude. And if Richard is stress well he never shows it. So I think that attitude will be great for triplets. You guys got this!



7 months- pictures for fun

I love taking photos of my kids. I don't have any fancy set up and I need to get more candid ones, (I'll have to work on that when Penny's starts crawling) but for now we just get smiley ones.

 

She is 7 months!

I feel like I just wrote her 6 month post and it's very much the same.

She's getting better at having less anxiety when others hold her.

She sits up on her own.

She will not take a nap at church. I just got called in to primary so Jason now has to worry about church ha.

Anyways she's so cute. I love my babies. I just could kiss her and hug her all day.

I LOVE this doll. A friend from my old ward made a few of these dolls for all the baby girls born within like 2 weeks of each other. Penny sleeps with it in her crib and plays with her often. I just love it!

Vegas

So we got away for 5 days KID FREE! My parents watched all three kids which was awesome. 3 kids just 4 and under is not easy. It was sure nice to get away.

We did TONS of walking. The first night we got there we walked around and looked at stuff. Then the next day we went to go go a hash house or is it hash house a go go? Either way it was amazing. I love breakfast and this did not disappoint. Then we went to the show O. It's pretty crazy what they can do. We also went to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. It was awesome! I forgot how many songs I know of Faith Hill. And Tim McGraw was so entertaining. During the days we went to Titanic display, wax museum and the shark reef place. We went to the outlets but wasn't overly impressed and now I am stuck with a sports bra with it's security tag still on. Some of the most interesting things was just walking through the hotels. They're HUGE! We missed only a couple, and Celine Dion wasn't there so one day we'll have to go back. It was crazy how many people were walking up and down the strip with their kids in strollers. I would NEVER take my kids there or at least not walk up and down at night. It wasn't so much the people (yes there were "feathered" girls etc., but not as many as I thought), it's the cards that people were handed out. They're awful. Once you figure out to not look down at the street them you can avoid it pretty good but man it's bad. Makes me sad for the girls and mad that women's worth is about their sexuality and appearance.

As well as the hash house we ate at Bobby Flay's restaurant MESA, and at Gordon Ramsey's burger place. We love food to much!
