Jace is 1!!!!

Jace is 1! Can you believe it? This year are truly flown by.  

This time last year I was 41 +1 walking around with the drip waiting for labor to kick in. It wasn't nice waiting 41+1 weeks but it was sure nice having a good nights rest, getting up at 7 00 am and coming to the hospital knowing I would have Jace that day. Anyways He is here and now he's 1.

A few things about Jace:

He's so cuddly- especially with me

He usually happy unless he's teething or sick

He's starting to understand more and say a few more things (not real words) like Mama, Dada, Ba (bath), Go go go (from cat in the hat)

He loves to play with his sister

Loves cupboards, vents, and closing doors

Loves to play games and be chased by people

Has 4 teeth and is teething some more

Has the cutest hair color ever!

This kid is great. Busy but hash been such a blessing in our lives.

The Cake...

So as you ALL have noticed and probably had a good laugh about I just want you too know

 I KNOW! The number 1 is backwards. I wish I could blame it on something like I was drowsy on medication, over tired, had my eyes closed... well nope I did it on my own. I swear I know what a one looks like but this one looks like this. It tasted good and Jace didn't seem to care.

I still laugh whenever I see it.

This Saturday we're having cake again with some more family but this cake was just for our little family.

Blake Returns

My brother came home from his mission in Salt Lake City. You can read about his mission here. He served his mission for two years. It was fun to see him again and see how grown up he got.

5 Years

5 years is a long time but it's also a short time as well. The common question I think couples ask themselves on anniversary dates is 'Can you believe it's been ____ years? Does it seem like ____ years?'. And just like so many couples we asked ourselves that question.

So the answer is Yes and No. It went  by so fast I can honestly still remember our first date to every detail. I can't say that about ANY other first date. I remembering it being the best first date I have ever had. I know this sounds mushy and made up but it is no lie. I remember getting ready for the date and Taren helping me, when he picked me up, going to Moxie's ordering a teriyaki chicken rice bowl, what I wore (something of Taren's), my hair curled, going to the Legislature to skate, having the rink to ourselves, music in the background, skating together and just the conversation being SO easy- no nerves, and then going to get hot chocolate. It was a Wednesday night so we were home by 10 or 1030 pm because we both had class the next morning. It was a perfect date.

Anyways back to the question, so NO because it doesn't seem like it's been 5 years. It's gone by SO fast. But YES because it seems like so much has happened in 5 years. I finished school, got a job, Jason finished Medical school, we moved, Jason started residency, we had Talia, Jason finished residency, got his first job in Leduc, we had Jace, we've been on 5 trips on our own, we've laughed, we've fought, we've made up, we've cried, we've comforted each other, we've been silly, and we've become a family.

(No I did not stay pregnant from 2009 to 2011 those are 2 separate babies. 2009 was in May and I was 22-23 weeks pregnant, and 2011 was January 2011 and I was 34-35 weeks pregnant- HUGE. No trip in 2010- busy year ha!)

So 5 years it is. Jason said last night at 7pm, "5 years ago we were starting our wedding reception." Cute that he noticed the time.

So the day started out that I went to the spa for a massage, then got my toes and fingers done. Jason took the day off so he could watch the kids. It was so nice to just be able to leave the house without leaving instruction and not having to worry. I like when Jason has time to watch them. It was great! Great valentines/ anniversary gift. I'll definitely to step it up next year. Anyways that night we did our first date over. The only differences was we went to Moose Factory (which I ate WAY to much), we went home to the same house, and third instead of hot chocolate we got frozen yogurt.

It was so much fun. I can honestly say that is still my favorite date. Dinner, skating (and we had the rink to ourselves AGAIN), and then dessert. Here's some pictures from the night (excuse the grainiest of some photos- iphone photos)

Then we ended the night with some frozen yogurt. It was a perfect 1st date, a perfect place to propose, and a perfect 5th year anniversary.

I'm not oblivious to the trials life brings and the trials you can have throughout your many years together and I know we have had our ups and downs but my life would not be complete without Jason. He's my best friend, husband, confidant, love of my life and biggest supporter.

 It's been a great 5 years and I cannot wait for the next forever.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is always down played in our house because Me and Jason's anniversary is 3 days later and with past years we've gone on a trip around that time. This year I decided to try mostly because Talia is at a age where she might remember some of this stuff and we were home. Nothing to fancy just something small and simple. So I decided to be nice... kidding I'm always nice...

Anyways We got some heart treats for the kids in heart baskets, made pink heart shaped pancakes and pink scrambled eggs, and then we had heart pizza for dinner. Then for us we got the kids down early and watched a new show together 'The River' (not sure about the show- a little much for me). It was a nice relaxing day.

Not much else to say...here's just a couple pictures to prove I did something.

We decided small gifts which mine to Jason was... I got him a picture frame with the kids in it and our family photo in the other for his office. Then of course he went big and got me a spa day for Friday morning our anniversary. Such a great gift!

I should talk about my "valentine" but like I said my anniversary was 3 days later so more to come then!

Random pictures- my life

This is a pretty random post but I want these pictures on our blog for blog book purposes.

Basically my life feels crazy right now. Talia's last month was my most challenging month with her. She's 2 and a half- maybe that explains it or maybe not. Either way we're working on some things (eating, being whiny, tantrums, etc) and it seems to be helping. Jace is one in a couple of weeks and is a busy busy boy. He tries to get things and when he is unable to get them or to it he get frustration because we can't understand him yet. Two hard stages.

We have our good moments where they play and actually play well laughing and chasing each other for a while. Or Talia says something super funny and she doesn't know it. The reason I do like this stage is they are playing more and more and seem to be little buddies.

This was an early morning for us. 7 am? Anyways they were being cute for a bit.

Family Home Evening (FHE) at our house.

We're trying to do better with doing a small FHE on Monday nights. It consists of songs, a small lesson in the nursery manual, and a treat.

This particular evening Jace was crazy. Would not stop moving and wanting to play with everyone. I couldn't stop laughing.

Listening for a short lesson. Maybe one day we'll be longer than 5 minutes... 5 minutes is pushing it!

I also want to go swimming or to the park for FHEs. Just got to stretch Jaces bedtime.

Wrestling. Jace just goes where ever he pleases.

Talia loves her doll house and barbies. Thanks to my sister Taren since playing barbies with her, Talia and I always have to play the repetitive "oh Barbie fell down help me!" over and over. It's funny.

Jace loves his cars. He also loves buckets and putting things in them. Mostly putting Talia's tea set in the bucket and dumping it on himself. So funny to see how different boys and girls are.
